The current mental health care system is unable to sufficiently address the demand for mental health care creating a treatment gap. To address this gap, a large body of research has focused on developing digital interventions to provide accessible care. However, these digital interventions show large drop-out rates yet game-based approaches show promise to increase engagement and effectiveness of the interventions. Shift perspective is a puzzle platformer intervention game for anxiety disorders that aims to reduce symptoms in an engaging way. The game was developed with expertise from mental health professionals and people with anxiety disorders. The game incorporates therapeutic techniques of cognitive restructuring to help players adopt a different perspective on their negative thoughts. With Shift perspective I hope to make mental healthcare more accessible and engaging for those in need.
